Meet the cast
Illustrated are Morgana (left) and Joanna (right).
When designing these two, I wanted to focus on how they contrast from each-other. As there were many planned close-up shots early in development, I wanted to ensure it was easy to tell who was who, even if you could not see the entire character in a given shot.
Character turnarounds
As I was the only animator working on this project, these are rather rough, but get the job done.
Background Design
To balance out my scenes, I took a page from the books of many classical animations by focusing my detailed imagery onto static backgrounds, rather than the characters themselves. I had a lot of fun using subtle design cues to help tell a broader story about the characters and world they live in, as I didn't have the time to write certain details and expositions into the script itself.
